Scholarly research is critical not only to the technical advancement of the radiologic sciences, but also to the recognition of radiologic technology as a profession. As radiologic science professionals become increasingly involved in the production and publication of research, they need to understand the ethical implications of such research. This article describes the peer-review process, discusses problems of authorship, examines questionable research practices and presents a set of guidelines for the responsible dissemination of research.
