We believe preoperative angiography is a safe procedure with current technics. The importance of the lateral aortogram in identifying mesenteric or celiac artery stenosis is emphasized. Sixty per cent of all patients studied showed some abnormal arteriographic finding. Significant abnormalities include (1) associated arteriosclerotic occlusions, (2) multiple aneurysms, and (3) anomalous vessels. As we consider this preoperative data of great importance in the planning of the total operation, we strongly recommend the routine use of aortography as described in evaluating all nonruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms.
