The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has finalized safe harbors protecting certain managed care arrangements. These safe harbors were first proposed over three years ago. Despite public request for greater flexibility, few modifications have been made to the original version. While somewhat helpful, the safe harbors fail to protect many legitimate managed care activities that are customary in the industry.
