Experiments were staged on albino rats to study the influence produced by vitamin "E" on the function of the liver in normality and in acute dystrophy provoked by introduction of carbon tetrachloride. A repeated introduction of vitamin "E" to intact animals produces moderate choletic and cholate-stimulating effects, improves conjugation of cholic acid with amino acids, especially with glycocoll and intensifies somewhat excretion of bilirbuin and cholesterol. The use of vitamin "E" in acute dystrophy of the liver precipitates the restoration of its function, markedly improves biligenesis and biliation and also stimulates the synthesis of cholic acid.
