Chelators have been used in many aspects of biomedical research, from water softening to antidotes for heavy metal ion intoxication. At present, novel therapeutic regimens have been developed against psychiatric disorders, viral, and protozoal infections. Many clinical trials and biomedical research continues in the use of chelating agents in solving various medical problems.
螯合剂已被用于生物医学研究的许多方面，从水软化到重金属离子中毒的解毒剂。目前，针对精神疾病、病毒和原生动物感染已开发出新的治疗方案。许多关于螯合剂在解决各种医学问题方面应用的临床试验和生物医学研究仍在继续。
