Laser use in the paranasal sinuses.

With the advancement of sinus endoscope and coronal computerized tomography, the ability to diagnose and relate paranasal sinus pathology to abnormal anatomy and function has increased rapidly. The continued development of surgical lasers and research into a better understanding of their advantages, limitations, and possible applications has paralleled this expansion in the diagnosis of paranasal sinuses. The result has been multiple studies now looking at laser use in the paranasal sinuses. These studies are reviewed and the utility of lasers in the sinuses is discussed.
