Abstract
Something has caught the eye of health care funders in Canada--soaring drug costs. In fact, the rise in drug spending in Canada has been faster than in any other health sector. As a result, drugs have overtaken physician fees to become--at 17 per cent--the second largest source of total health spending in Canada. Hospitals remain the biggest source of health care spending at 40 per cent.
