Abstract
Under iron-restricted conditions staphylococcal strains could utilize in vitro human body iron sources in form of haemoglobin, haemin, transferrin and lactoferrin. Iron was taken up after proteolytic degradation of the binding protein and by means of siderophores. Siderophores were identified as hydroxamates.

在铁限制条件下，葡萄球菌菌株能够在体外利用人体铁源，如血红蛋白、血红素、转铁蛋白和乳铁蛋白。铁在结合蛋白经蛋白水解降解后通过铁载体被摄取。铁载体被鉴定为异羟肟酸。
