An analytical relationship has been established between the electric parameters of an illuminator and the lighting parameters and the service life of halogen lamps when operating on industrial mains power supplies. The paper shows a way of improving the above characteristics to provide comfortable working conditions and to enhance labour productivity by applying the constant power sources with the preset voltage stabilization factor. Plots of luminous flux instability and service life against voltage stabilization factor have been constructed from the derived formulas for a K[symbol see text]15-150 halogen filament. Recommendations are given to calculate a stabilization factor for a constant power source.
