In conjunction with the report on "Posttransplant care and rehabilitation", the consensus paper on "Indications, contraindications, and therapeutic alternatives to cardiac transplantation" reflects the current practice in German cardiac transplant centers. This paper is based on a survey organized in 1994 by the Working Group on Thoracic Organ Transplantation of the German Society of Cardiology in which all German transplant centers participated.
