Five cases have been presented in which dental lasers were used as adjuncts to removable prosthetic care. As dental laser technology advances, there will be more opportunities for lasers to play a significant role in delivery of superior care in every area of dentistry. All five procedures described here can be performed in a more conventional manner, without laser treatment. However, laser treatment is the preferred method for these procedures. As lasers become more common in dental offices, use of lasers for these procedures will become the standard of care. The patients in these cases were treated with specific wavelengths of lasers, i.e. CO2 or Nd:YAG. This is not meant as an endorsement of one wavelength over another, or of one manufacturer over another. Used properly, most dental lasers currently on the market can successfully perform these treatments.
