Adults enter computer learning situations with diverse interests and backgrounds. They learn best when they can select from a variety of learning modalities with the goal of completing a desired task. Helping adults learn how to undo computer errors and identify support persons can be just as important as successful completion of a task on the first attempt. By applying these principles of adult education to computer learning, educators can facilitate competence and self-direction in learners.
