[An evaluation of the functional possibilities of the deep femoral artery and its branches as potential outflow pathways in arterial reconstruction].

The functional potentialities of the profound femoral artery and its collateral bed were studied in 53 patients by the following diagnostic methods: measurement of the retrograde blood flow pressure from the arteries of the profound femoral artery system and the calculation of the profound femoral-popliteal collateral index during ultrasonic dopplerometry. It was shown that the retrograde flow pressure from the profound femoral artery was not a reliable indicator of its capacity reserves without other parameters of regional haemodynamics taken into consideration.
