[The functional and esthetic aspects in the orthodontic treatment of partial anodontia (anodontia 2/2)].

Rehabilitation of a female patient with adentia of the upper lateral incisors is described. An alternative method has been resorted to, including plasty of the upper lip frenulum followed by orthodontic treatment. The authors emphasize that the choice of such treatment strategy for this patient requires profound diagnostic studies in order to correctly design the prosthesis and plan the treatment scheme. Clinical assessment of individual occlusion is of primary importance, particularly in the lateral areas of dentition.
