Creating a sense of direction: decreasing resistance to restructuring changes.

In-patient hospital days will continue to decline as health care and services shift more and more to a community and wellness focus. The declining census forces the need to restructure acute care patient units. This author describes how to decrease physician and nursing staff resistance to restructuring by creating a sense of direction.
