Pancreatitis and cytokines.

The pathogenesis of acute and chronic pancreatitis involves multiple mechanisms participating in the development of inflammation, necrosis and fibrosis. Cytokines able to modulate inflammatory process, tissue repair or fibrosis development have gained growing interest in this disease. This paper reviews the current knowledge about the role of cytokines in pancreatitis.
