In women aged 60--79 years the author determined the frequency of sex chromatin in epithelial cells of buccal mucosa. A higher frequency was found in women with cardiovascular diseases, especially with arterial hypertension and acute disturbances of coronary of cerebral circulation. The role of hormonal factors in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases in elderly women is discussed.
