The rationale for implant-supported overdenture therapy is discussed with emphasis on diagnosis (why) and consequential therapy (how). After the conventionally available bar designs are discussed, the newer CEKA bar is discussed. This design of the next generation enables individualization of the essential functions of an implant bar, namely occlusal support, lateral stability and retention.
