Mucocele is a cystic dilatation of the vermiform appendix that contains mucous material. It may be caused by benign or malignant diseases.
To report and discuss four cases with mucocele.
The main clinical manifestations were abdominal pain and changes in the bowel habits. In two cases, appendiceal mucocele was an incidental finding in the diagnostic work-up or operation for acute diverticulitis and acute cholecystitis, respectively. The diagnostic approach included barium enema and CT scan of the abdomen. In three cases, the mucocele was secondary to mucinous cystadenoma; two of them had a preoperative diagnosis of mucocele and underwent colonic preparation and right hemicolectomy, one patient underwent appendectomy alone. The remaining case underwent appendectomy alone, was found to have mucinous adenocarcinoma, and underwent a right hemicolectomy in a second operation. Postoperative outcome was adequate in all cases.
Mucocele of the vermiform appendix is a rare disease. An appendectomy is an adequate treatment for benign disease. If malignant disease is demonstrated, a right hemicolectomy should be performed.
黏液囊肿是阑尾的囊性扩张，内含黏液物质。它可能由良性或恶性疾病引起。
报告并讨论4例黏液囊肿病例。
主要临床表现为腹痛和排便习惯改变。其中2例，阑尾黏液囊肿分别在急性憩室炎和急性胆囊炎的诊断检查或手术中偶然发现。诊断方法包括钡剂灌肠和腹部CT扫描。3例黏液囊肿继发于黏液性囊腺瘤；其中2例术前诊断为黏液囊肿，接受了结肠准备和右半结肠切除术，1例患者仅接受了阑尾切除术。其余1例仅接受了阑尾切除术，术后发现为黏液腺癌，在第二次手术中接受了右半结肠切除术。所有病例术后结果均良好。
阑尾黏液囊肿是一种罕见疾病。阑尾切除术是治疗良性疾病的合适方法。如果证实为恶性疾病，则应进行右半结肠切除术。
