Place of origin of the apical segmental artery of the left inferior lobe in relation to other branches arising from the interlobar portion of the left pulmonary artery in human.

The apical segmental artery (A6) in 67% was a single vessel in 30% double, and in 3% triple. In most cases the artery arises below the lowest branch to the posterior (S2) or anterior (S3) segments. In 15% of instances all arteries originated at the same level and rarely originated with the common stem. Apical artery (A6) usually arises above the origin of the common trunk for lingular segmental arteries (A 4 + 5). In 20% of cases the artery originated at the same level or even below.
