The study was performed in 7 mature cats by method of retrograde axonic transport of markers (horseradish peroxidase and luminophores). Neocortex, mesocortex and allocortex project to the caudal nucleus. No connection with archicortex was found. Cortical areas, located more caudal in hemispheres surface (including auditory and optic ones) project to the body of this formation as compared to the caudal nucleus head (its rostral part in particular) that receives projections basically from anterior cortical areas (motor, somatosensory, prelimbic ones and so on) Basal nucleus of amygdala all parts of black substance and ventral tegmental field project both to the head and body of caudal nucleus. Thus it may be concluded that projections of subcortical structures studied are distributed throughout the caudal nucleus length.
