Whither Whitley?

Whitley in the NHS has increasingly become perceived as an impediment to progress. This article considers this perception in the context of the origins of Whitleyism, its contribution to the management of health services and the staff working with them, and whether it has kept pace with the change process in the NHS in recent years.
