The present paper describes experiments on artificial hematogenous metastasation of chemically induced tumours in mice and rats. Total-body irradiation prior to tumour cell application greatly increased metastatic dissemination. The metastasation is significantly inhibited by pretreatment of the animals with a carcinogenic agent. Similarly, a significant inhibition of metastatic growth was observed in primary tumour animals after surgery.
