Contact lenses are a modern possibility to correct defective sights as an alternative to glasses. They are not only used because of cosmetic reasons but also if there is optical or therapeutical indication from the medical point of view. For keratoconus and cornea globosa are hard contact lenses not only the unique efficient possibility for correction but also contemporary therapy. If cornea is irregular-for instance when there are cicatrices-an essential improvement can be achieved with hard contact lenses in comparison to glasses.
隐形眼镜是矫正视力缺陷的一种现代选择，可替代眼镜。人们使用隐形眼镜不仅是出于美观原因，从医学角度来看，当有光学或治疗指征时也会使用。对于圆锥角膜和球形角膜，硬性隐形眼镜不仅是唯一有效的矫正方法，也是当代的治疗手段。如果角膜不规则——例如有瘢痕时——与眼镜相比，硬性隐形眼镜能带来显著改善。
