Results observed over a period of two years in the intensive care of hepatic coma at the University of Genova surgical pathology department are briefly surveyed. A set of practical suggestions is offered for the management of patients whose prognosis is not open to change by the administration of conventional forms of treatment. A critical appraisal of the results achieved is presented along with the general series.
