The lecture describes geriatric rehabilitation in terms of economic aspects on the basis of several papers that are quoted in detail. Thanks to geriatric rehabilitation, a cost savings can be demonstrated because of increased independence and a reduction in the need for nursing care and the need for treatment. The ultimate goal of geriatric rehabilitation, however, is to improve the patient's quality of life. Measuring this is nearly impossible. At the end of the day the term "successful", therefore, remains a subjective assessment by the patient and the attending team. The measuring parameters can only give indications for the success.
