[Pathogenesis of respiratory insufficiency in patients submitted to bilateral aortofemoral shunting in Leriche's syndrome].

The complementary system is activated in response to development of the reperfusion syndrome in patients subjected to bilateral aortofemoral shunting for Leriche's syndrome. These changes result in the development of respiratory disorders presenting as constriction of the small and medium-sized bronchi, increase of pulmonary shunting of the blood, and manifest hypoxia.
