Virus and Haapasalo report that the Blakemore and Sutton apparent spatial-frequency shift is not color specific. Also supposedly demonstrated is a McCollough effect that is not possible to spatial frequency. It is suggested that inadequate test procedures and a confusion between retinal and cortical adaptation negate these results.
