Haven't we 'eased' floss into our oral hygiene instruction long enough?

We have tried to 'ease' the procedure of dental flossing into the job of cleaning the teeth long enough. Almost all our clients know about the benefits of flossing and that they are supposed to floss. What we have not been successful in teaching is that it is not an option; it is an integral part of complete plaque removal. Developing and utilizing new methods of instruction to increase the overall effectiveness of our dental hygiene education, with the objective of decreasing the occurrence of periodontal disease, is then, our challenge.
