A preliminary evaluation of a randomized, prospective clinical study of combined polychemotherapy in bronchial carcinoma is presented. The comparison of survival-curves shows a positive tendency in favor of the treatment and justifies the continuation and extension of the study. The data presented are based on the findings of 106 patients who underwent radical surgical operations due to bronchial carcinoma and of 114 patients as a comparison who in addition received aftertreatment with high doses of cytostatics applied intermittently. The importance of the influence of the clinical symptoms on the prognosis and on the effect of the Chemotherapy is emphasized.
