Because the arrangement of the remaining dentition may vary tremendously, the design of a removable partial denture is complicated with regard to function, esthetics, hygiene and oral comfort. Part One of this article will discuss how disassembling the RPD into its structural components and defining their functions will help the dental technician with RPD planning.
