To assess the efficacy of long-acting propranolol in elderly patients with essential hypertension (EH) and coronary disease (CD).
Sixteen patients (mean age 60 years) with EH and CD were examined using ECG and echoCG, chest rheoplethysmography, Holter ECG monitoring, and exercise test. Betacap was administered once a day in doses 40 or 80 mg at 10.00 or 13.00.
The drug exerted an antianginal and hypotensive effect. Energy expenditures of the myocardium decreased and exercise tolerance improved; the drug was more effective in patients with the hyperkinetic circulation and if taken at 10.00.
Betacap is an effective antianginal and hypotensive agent, recommended for therapy of elderly patients with EH and CD.
评估长效普萘洛尔对老年原发性高血压（EH）合并冠心病（CD）患者的疗效。
对16例（平均年龄60岁）EH合并CD患者进行了心电图、超声心动图、胸部血流容积描记法、动态心电图监测及运动试验检查。每天一次在10:00或13:00给予倍他洛尔，剂量为40或80毫克。
