[New flexible open-loop anterior chamber lens in secondary implantation].

OBJECTIVE

To determine the efficacy of new flexible open-loop anterior chamber intraocular lens (AC IOL) in secondary implantation.

METHOD

Secondary AG-IOL implantation in 35 eyes including 28 with traumatic cataract and 7 with senile cataract was performed 3 months to 2.5 years after primary cataract extraction. All patients were followed up for at least 6 months.

RESULTS

Of the 35 eyes, 27 (77.1%) had a final visual acuity of 0.5 or better and 11 (31.4%) had 1.0 or better.

CONCLUSION

New flexible open-loop AC IOL is safe and effective for secondary IOL implantation.
