A prolonged cold adaptation decreased the lipid content and increased free fatty acids in homogenate of skeletal muscles. It also seems to decrease the efficiency of the calcium-ATPase resulting from non-saturate fatty acids effect upon sarcoplasmic reticulum membranes.
