Most general dental practitioners perform dentoalveolar surgery as part of their practice. Postoperative sequelae can cause great concern for patients and undue stress for the general practitioner. This article explains the importance of patient education with regard to these sequelae and discusses standard treatment modalities the practitioner can employ if they should arise.
