Differential diagnosis respiratory insufficiency in children is great problem for pediatricians and a radiologists. The mortality rate for respiratory insufficiency especially in the newborn may be as high as 50 per cent. The etiology of respiratory insufficiency may be of different origin. Considering location one can distinguish between pulmonary and extrapulmonary causes, as congenital oesophageal stresia, diaphragmatic hernia, diaphragmatic relaxation, and tumours of the neck, mediastinum and thoracic wall. Roentgen examinations are important to diagnose of extrapulmonary causes for respiratory insufficiency.
