Progress towards controlling HIV-associated TB upsurge.

One of the reasons for the global increase in the incidence of tuberculosis is its association with HIV. The significance of the link led to the development of a specialist service at St Mary's Hospital NHS Trust, London. The service supports people with HIV and TB, and monitors their treatment. This article describes the service and makes recommendations about the need to develop a national strategic approach to combat the increase in people with TB.
