The anthelminthics registered in the Netherlands include albendazole, mebendazole and praziquantel. Available but not registered are ivermectin and diethylcarbamazine. With these five drugs nearly all indigenous and imported helminth infections in the Netherlands can be treated effectively. Neurocysticercosis is difficult to treat with medication, surgery may be needed.
