BACKGROUND
Chemotherapy for steroid tumors of unspecified type has met with limited success and the overall prognosis has been poor.
CASE
A patient with a virilizing steroid tumor, otherwise unspecified, with demonstrated progressive disease after surgical debulking. Treatment with multiagent chemotherapy failed, but the patient subsequently had a robust response to GnRH agonist therapy.
CONCLUSION
GnRH analogue treatment should be considered prior to cytotoxic chemotherapy in cases of steroid tumor, not otherwise specified.
