The dependence of the quantitative content of Escherichia coli in the feces of newborn infants 3 days after birth on the titer of anti Re-glycolipid antibodies in umbilical blood and in mother milk was studied. The reverse correlation between the number of bacteria in feces and the titers of anti Re-glycolipid antibodies was established, the amount of bacteria depending more on antibody titers in umbilical blood than on those in mother milk. The conclusion was made that antiglycolipid antibodies played an important role in the regulation of the quantitative content of E. coli in the intestine of newborn infants. In case of the deficiency of such antibodies intestinal dysbacteriosis may develop in newborn infants.
