A literature review was conducted of 16 research articles examining the relationship between implementation of a model of care utilizing unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) and patient satisfaction. In nine of the articles, the implementation of the UAP model was found to increase patient satisfaction. In seven articles, the implementation of the UAP model was found to have no effect on patient satisfaction. In addition, two research articles also were reviewed that related patient satisfaction to continuity of care and aspects of caring behaviors. Discussion of these articles included research problems, methodology, findings, and conclusions.
