Abstract

Not many chief executive officers want to think about the need to plan for the time when they're gone; even fewer do it. Even so, succession planning traditionally has been one of the CEO's main responsibilities to ensure the organization's long-term viability. However, some experts predict that only 10% of healthcare organizations have written down their succession plans.
