To comply with Title III of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, radiology managers must take responsibility for providing special assistance for hearing-impaired patients. That includes training staff members in techniques that can help them communicate more effectively with hearing-impaired patients. This article describes difficulties some hearing-impaired patients experience during radiology exams, and suggests measures radiologic technologists can use to assist them.
