Iontophoresis: an alternative drug-delivery system.

Iontophoresis expands the range of drugs that are available for transdermal drug delivery. This article looks at the important advantages this technology offers, such as the ability to rapidly deliver large quantities of large-molecule and water-soluble drugs. Its potential is illustrated in a review of ideal drug candidates and results of trials conducted to date.
