OBJECTIVE
An uncommon complication of prostatic transrectal biopsy is described.
METHODS/RESULTS: A case of peritonitis arising from a recto-peritoneal fistula after transrectal biopsy of the prostate is reported. The patient presented symptoms of peritonitis 15 days after undergoing ambulatory transrectal prostatic biopsy elsewhere. The imaging studies showed intraprostatic hypodense collection and peritonitis due to a recto-peritoneal fistula. The diagnosis was confirmed by laparotomy. The patient died 7 days postoperatively due to acute renal failure.
CONCLUSION
Transrectal biopsy of the prostate is a simple procedure, but it is not free from serious complications.
目的
描述一种前列腺经直肠活检的罕见并发症。
方法/结果：报告一例前列腺经直肠活检后直肠-腹膜瘘引起的腹膜炎病例。该患者在其他地方接受门诊经直肠前列腺活检15天后出现腹膜炎症状。影像学检查显示前列腺内低密度积液及直肠-腹膜瘘导致的腹膜炎。剖腹手术确诊。患者术后7天因急性肾衰竭死亡。
结论
前列腺经直肠活检是一种简单的操作，但并非没有严重并发症。
