Period of decreased protein synthesis was observed in rats within first hours, after burns but later on the synthesis was distinctly increased in liver and spleen tissues. This increase was apparently due to induction of RNA synthesis as actinomycin D removed the effect of burns on the protein synthesis. Immediately after the burns incorporation of 14C-orotic acid into rapidly-lebelling RNA of rat liver tissue was increased; the increased RNA synthesis was observed and at the 3-rd day after burns.
