Physician utilization of pharmacy computer drug profiles.

A pharmacy computer medication profile is a valuable tool for the management of drug resources, proper utilization of physician time, and improvement in patient care by drug compliance monitoring. In an effort to reduce medication stockpiling, improve patient compliance, and reduce drug abuse, a system of preparing computer printouts of patient medication profiles was developed. The profile is placed in each patient's chart prior to each visit with the physician. This profile can then be used by the physician to identify drug compliance and abuse problems.
