One of every five Americans will be 65 or older by the year 2030. At least 50% of Americans will live to be 85 by the year 2050. To meet the needs of this burgeoning population, the authors suggest, medical centers should recruit geriatricians, target and expand services, establish geriatric programs and network with community organizations.
