In unanesthetized cats, the effect of hypothalamic stimulation on the blood pressure reflex and blood flow changes in hindlimb and intestine during activation of baroreceptors was studied. The stimulation decreased functional activity of baroreflex in regard to the blood pressure, while the dilatation of hindlimb vessels on hypothalamic stimulation was suppressed by activation of the carotid sinuses. Anesthetic drugs alter the hypothalamic regulation of the baroreflex.
