The paper highlights the need for knowledge of the principles and methods of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) among Nigerian therapists, the historical development of the model, the theoretical framework of the model, and the behavioural and cognitive techniques in common use. Although the method is limited in its use to educated people, the number of such persons is rising in our population. CBT meets the African patients need to be directed and the therapists need for brevity.
本文强调了尼日利亚治疗师了解认知行为疗法（CBT）的原则和方法的必要性，该疗法的历史发展、理论框架以及常用的行为和认知技术。尽管该方法的使用仅限于受过教育的人群，但在我们的人口中，这类人的数量正在增加。认知行为疗法满足了非洲患者需要得到指导的需求，也满足了治疗师追求简洁的需求。
